    SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY INITIATIVE

The Fort St. John Code Pilot Project had formerly applied the Canadian Standards Association’s Sustainable Forest Management (CSA SFM) standard to forestry operations in the Fort St. John Timber Supply Area (the Pilot Project Area). In the spring of 2019 the Managing Participants (Canfor and BCTS) transitioned from CSA certification of their forest management activities in the Pilot Project Area to Sustainable Forestry Initiative certification.

Under the SFI Forest Management standard, sustainable forest management is verified by independent third party audit. Local values, goals and indicators included in the Sustainable Forest Management Plan have been developed in consultation with a Public Advisory Group.
